As a commercial scallop diver for 10 years combined with 8 years as a fisherman supplying wild caught wrasse to the salmon farming industry, Martin gained valuable insight into the cleaner fish in their natural habitat and the special relationship they have with the kelp.
With an understanding of the salmon farming industry and its drive to improve fish health and welfare, Martin has designed a habitat for cleaner fish that they would naturally choose to use.
His previous experience as a structural draughtsman, mountain guide and in rope access were all utilised in the development and construction of the KelpRing, resulting in its robust yet simple design.
